Job Description

Summary: Sanzaru is looking for a talented Combat Designer to collaborate, craft, and elevate virtual reality combat experiences. As a Combat Designer, you will work directly with the Game Directors and discipline leads to evolve traditional combat into a visceral virtual reality experience. You will own and carry designs from start to finish, working closely with cross-functional teams, with a focus on play testing and tuning for compelling combat. Required Skills: Responsibilities: Work with cross-functional teams to create engaging experiences Own and drive the vision from start to finish, collaborating with art, engineering, and animation Design and implement high-quality combat scenarios, such as boss fights Establish satisfying risk/reward, flow, and feel Develop, experiment, and prototype combat experiences Manage all aspects of combat design including animation, code, and gameplay needs Understand what makes combat fun and rewarding Communicate regularly and problem solve with leadership Evaluate features to improve and streamline gameplay systems Adhere to hardware limitations with creative solutions Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of industry experience across platforms Shipped 2+ AAA titles on high-end platforms Hardcore gamer with deep understanding of combat and systems design Experience assessing system architecture and combat design needs Knowledge of Unreal Engine scripting and UE Blueprint Understanding of VR development challenges Ability to multi-task and adapt easily Effective communication skills Experience creating boss fights and combat scenarios Preferred Qualifications: Background in animation or coding Experience in VR Compensation: $137,000/year to $193,000/year + bonus, equity, benefits Industry: Internet Equal Opportunity: Meta is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
