Our expertise in infrastructure includes aviation, highways and bridges, planning and advisory services, ports, rail and transit, tunnels, and water. Want to be part of the creation and construction of our cities? Then the infrastructure team is for you!

Join our Ports & Terminals Group and work on maritime infrastructure such as container terminals and intermodal facilities, with truck gates, container yards, and wharves. You will participate in the planning and analysis of complex industrial transportation facilities. Additionally, you will contribute to our clients’ operational improvement initiatives as part of a team focused on data analysis, operational software testing, and development of testing tools. You will work under licensed Professional Engineers and planners and deliver as part of one more project teams. 

We are seeking a motivated Junior Civil/Mechanical Engineer with a keen interest in logistics and goods movement. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude and proficiency in complex integrated computer systems and operational processes. As a Junior Engineer, you will be required to provide engineering deliverables and technical support.  The main duties and responsibilities as part of this position include: 

Responsibilities :

• Analyze and optimize operational processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assist Software Architects, Engineers, and Testers in designing and executing software test cases. Scripting of automated test cases (e.g. for regression testing). Development of functionality for Hatch testing tools (e.g. automated testing framework, simulators).
• Based on client input, contribute to technical specifications, presentations, and written reports for studies.
• Assisting with developing project scopes, engineering estimates, construction cost estimates and developing methodologies.
• Use the application of engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment.
• Application of innovative engineering solutions.
• Working independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to observe operations.

 
Qualifications :

• Must be a recent or soon-to-be-graduate pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Strong interest in operations, logistics, and systems/processes
• Strong interest in process optimization
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams.
• Exposure to integrated computer systems and software used in transport and logistics.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to civil/mechanical engineering.
• Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
• Commitment to achieving engineering excellence.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems.
• A desire to learn and continually develop.
• Strong personal commitment to safety.
• Previous Co-op or Internship experience an asset.

Compensation range depends on education, major, experience (overall), and interview skills.  For ideal candidates, the starting salary will be approximately $80,000 annually. Please feel free to contact us for information on additional compensation and programs.
