Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in a geotechnical or construction materials lab or field setting (relevant certifications or training may substitute for some experience)
• Hands-on experience with soil, concrete, and asphalt testing
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering Technology, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering) highly preferred
• Proven experience managing or training technical teams in a lab or field environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, Environmental, Geotechnical, or a related discipline
• Industry certifications such as ACI , NICET , or DOT credentials
• Familiarity with state and federal testing standards and procedures

Our client, a leading engineering consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated Lab Manager to lead their Construction Materials Testing Laboratory in Wichita, KS. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in geotechnical or construction materials testing, who thrives in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Oversight:
• Manage daily operations of the materials testing laboratory, ensuring all testing is performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with company protocols and industry standards.
• Team Development:
• Supervise, train, and mentor laboratory technicians. Coordinate staffing and workload distribution to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.
• Quality Assurance:
• Review test results for accuracy and completeness. Ensure all testing meets QA/QC standards before submission to Project Managers.
• Lab Operations:
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped lab environment. Oversee calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
• Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with field staff and project managers to ensure timely and efficient testing services for soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.
