Reporting to the Senior Regional Director, the District Business Leader (DBL) will be responsible for achieving business objectives by leading a team of Territory Business Managers (TBMs) in the successful promotion of ARISTADA, LYBALVI, and future neuroscience pipeline products & services. This will be accomplished by successfully leading, coaching, and developing a diverse, high-performing sales team to exceed sales goals within an assigned geographic area.

Key attributes necessary for success include the ability to inspire and motivate a results-oriented team, possess a strategic perspective on managing business opportunities, and execute efficient performance management practices as needed.

The DBL will provide clear direction and coaching, work collaboratively in the field with the sales team to identify needs and opportunities, and execute successful sales meetings. Additionally, the DBL will establish high work standards and ensure the team adheres to all company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, coach, and retain top talent for Alkermes' sales organization.
  • Plan, direct, implement, and oversee policies and activities for Territory Business Managers within a specific geographic area.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the district's geography, care patterns, major payers, and public policy initiatives.
  • Implement sales force strategies and marketing plans to meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Foster innovation in sales approaches and practices, ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Identify district-specific opportunities and barriers to ensure success.
  • Exercise sound judgment, ensure integrity, and maintain compliance with company policies in all activities.
  • Review and analyze reports to ensure quarterly and annual goals are met.
  • Manage district expenses effectively.
  • Counsel, motivate, and coach TBMs.
  • Ensure alignment of strategies across functions and effective communication at the territory level.
  • Assist with training as needed.
  • Reinforce compliance with Alkermes policies and sales principles.

Qualifications

Basic Education & Experience Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • At least 3 years of successful pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience.
  • Must reside within the responsibility geography.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain necessary healthcare provider credentials for facility access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building and coaching sales teams.
  • Over 7 years of sales experience in biotech/pharmaceuticals.
  • Proven sales success demonstrated through quotas, rankings, and awards.
  • Deep understanding of reimbursement and insurance coverage for physician-administered treatments.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Advanced business degree is a plus.
  • Experience with products treating schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe depression.
  • Proven launch experience in complex, competitive environments.
  • Experience selling and coaching injectable products in mental healthcare settings.
  • Passion for improving CNS/mental health patient care.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude or experience in startup environments.
  • Ability to work autonomously and identify new business opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
