Salary Range: $113,000 - $125,000 / year The Director of Health Informatics improves how we capture, manage, and use clinical data and digital health tools. This role ensures that our EMR (Athena) and other digital tools are fully optimized for accurate documentation, efficient workflows, improved patient access, and strong performance on quality measures. The Director of Health Informatics directs, leads, and/or performs tasks and initiatives that optimize clinical technology and data systems to enhance patient care, streamline workflows, and facilitate informed decision-making for providers, staff, and leadership. Ensures all staff fully leverage our digital health tools by improving workflows, automating processes, promoting adoption, and providing engaging and practical training. Works with our vendors and partners to ensure accurate and compliant data flow between systems.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Director of Health Informatics:
- Analyze current clinical workflows and use of digital tools to find gaps, inefficiencies, or training needs.
- Responsible for directing the configuration and optimization of the Athena EMR and other tools to align with best practices and compliance standards.
- Direct and support the work of the EMR Manager and other direct reports when/if applicable.
- Develop and maintain automated processes and reports to support complete documentation, accurate coding, and timely risk score capture.
- Design and deliver training for clinicians and staff to build skill and confidence in using digital clinical tools.
- Support patient engagement by improving patient portal functionality and helping staff promote its use.
- Collaborate with stakeholders throughout CHP, including IT, clinical leadership, and vendors to implement system improvements and updates.
- Track usage metrics, gather feedback, and recommend enhancements for continuous improvement.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new digital tools that can enhance efficiency and improve outcomes, including gathering input from stakeholders.
- Clinical data management & reporting:
- Oversee integration projects for data flow between our partner systems.
- Create clinical dashboards and data reports.
- Ensure clinical compliance with regulations, such as HIPAA, and adhere to documentation standards.
- Oversee UDS clinical and operational data integrity and coordinate the annual reporting process, including data gathering and validation.

- Health IT & EMR Expertise Deep understanding of clinical systems, particularly AthenaHealth, with the ability to optimize workflows, configure tools, and implement system improvements.
- Data-Driven Decision Making Skilled in clinical data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation to inform strategy, improve documentation, and support quality and performance measures.
- Workflow Optimization & Change Management Identifies inefficiencies, implements streamlined processes, and drives adoption of digital tools through training and process improvement.
- Training & User Enablement Designs and delivers effective training programs that improve user proficiency, engagement, and confidence in using digital health tools.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Focus Ensures compliance with HIPAA and documentation standards while supporting risk adjustment, coding accuracy, and quality reporting (e.g., UDS, HEDIS).

- Advanced knowledge of EMR systems, especially AthenaHealth.
- Proficiency in clinical data reporting, dashboard creation, and data integration tools.
- Skilled in process automation and workflow optimization.
- Experience with UDS reporting, risk score capture, documentation improvement, and coding support.
- Strong foundation in health IT systems, interoperability standards, and digital tool evaluation.
- Fluency in Excel, Power BI, or other data analysis, reporting, and visualization platforms.
- Understanding of healthcare quality metrics (e.g., HEDIS, UDS, CMS quality measures).
- Training design and facilitation skills tailored for clinical audiences.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field required; Masters degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in health informatics, clinical systems, or healthcare IT, with a focus on EMR optimization and digital health tools.
- Proven experience leading clinical technology projects and improving workflows, especially in outpatient or primary care settings.
- Strong familiarity with AthenaHealth EMR or comparable systems, including configuration, reporting, and user training.
- Experience supporting quality improvement, risk adjustment, coding/documentation accuracy, and regulatory reporting (e.g., UDS, HEDIS, HIPAA).
- Prior experience working in community health, FQHCs, or value-based care environments is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and change management efforts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience providing training and user support.
