ABOUT THE ROLE
The Chemical Production Manager will play a critical leadership role within the operations team, overseeing daily production activities and leading a team of supervisors and technical staff. This position is responsible for maintaining steady and consistent plant operations while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a systems-focused mindset and a strong foundation in engineering and process optimization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, coach, and develop production team members, providing timely feedback and holding them accountable.
Own and optimize the production process to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify and drive improvement opportunities.
Develop and manage production budgets, reporting any significant variances.
Promote a proactive, solutions-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement.
Oversee the operator training and qualification process.
Serve as a subject matter expert in root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
Ensure the effective use and development of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Manage vendor and contractor qualifications to maintain high-quality production standards.
Support the plant's shutdown activities and change management processes.
Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Conduct performance reviews, manage schedules, and participate in hiring decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally to align production strategies with organizational goals.
Provide operational support as needed and assist with special projects assigned by leadership.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred) from an accredited institution.
3 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a large-scale, continuous process manufacturing environment.
Experience with process equipment such as evaporators, centrifuges, heat exchangers, boilers, and similar systems.
Strong background in reliability principles, production management, and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated experience in managing production budgets and performance metrics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong organizational and analytical skills.
Effective communication and delegation abilities.
Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is preferred.
Physical ability to work around industrial equipment, ascend ladders, and wear required PPE.
Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. not based on student or third-party-sponsored visa.
