At ellamind, we are developing a groundbreaking platform that enables companies to improve AI applications more quickly and use them more efficiently to automate their processes. Within the OpenEuroLLM project, we work on Europe’s next generation of foundation models. As an AI Researcher / Research Engineer, you will shape the future of LLM evaluation and training methods. Collaborating with Europe's leading research institutions and AI companies, you will help position ellamind as a knowledge leader in LLM training and evaluation. Your responsibilities include:
- Contributing to research projects in the following areas:
- LLM evaluation and benchmarking, including development of new benchmarks and evaluation workflows
- Multilingual LLMs and multilingual evaluation
- LLMs for data annotation and rating (LLM-as-a-judge), reward models
- Synthetic data
- Pre- and post-training of state-of-the-art open-source LLMs
- Automating and optimizing AI workflows, scaling workflows on large GPU clusters
- Exploring innovative approaches in the field of multimodal AI systems (text, image, audio)
- Incorporating research findings and insights into our products
- You have an advanced degree (preferably PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, and/or can demonstrate comparable skills through high-profile personal projects or professional experience - we value not the length of experience, but the outstanding quality of your work that you have repeatedly demonstrated throughout your career and/or projects.
- Practical experience with LLMs such as GPT, Claude, or open-source alternatives and a deep understanding of the technical foundations behind these models
- Solid knowledge of Python and experience with DL frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, Jax or similar.
- You have experience with the open-source (LLM) ecosystem.
- Ideally, you have experience with LLM evaluation frameworks such as lm-eval-harness or light-eval
- Ideally, you have experience working with multi-GPU setups or even GPU clusters.
- You are passionate about AI research and its applications and are a genuine problem solver.
- You are fluent in English (minimum C1 level); fluency in German is a Plus; fluency in any other language, is a Plus (we work on multilingual LLMs).
- You are willing to work at least 3 days/week on-site at our Bremen office (with the perspective of transitioning to our planned Berlin office in midterm).
- You have EU work authorization.
