Title: Academic Advisor/Senior Academic Advisor Primary Function of Academic Advisor Position Serve as primary advisor to roughly one half of the undergraduate students in the Department of NRES. Assist in training and supporting faculty advisors. Contribute to the management of the course schedule and undergraduate program assessment efforts. Primary Function of Senior Academic Advisor Position Serve as primary advisor to roughly one half of the undergraduate students in the Department of NRES. Train and support faculty advisors. Manage the course schedule and undergraduate program assessment efforts. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Provide Academic Advising Services to Assigned Students Advise first and second year undergraduates regarding curriculum requirements, course selection, registration, and post-graduation plans. Welcome and advise new students and intercollegiate transfer students, assisting with course selection and curriculum planning. Support students in identifying and pursuing their interests, abilities, skills, and academic goals regarding their academic careers. Introduce students to opportunities that will enrich their academic experience, encourage academic and personal development, and support holistic success. Serve as first point of contact for current and transfer students regarding navigating the University, making informed decisions, and finding necessary resources. Provide training and support materials for NRES faculty members advising undergraduates. Identify and support struggling or at-risk students, providing appropriate referrals. Participate in ongoing professional development activities. Serve on College of ACES Advising Team. Maintain accurate and confidential student records. Contribute to Academic Program Management Activities Create the NRES course schedule each semester with direction from the NRES Director of Undergraduate Studies and Student Services Coordinator. Serve as ad hoc member of the NRES Courses and Curriculum Committee. Assist with implementation and annual reporting of assessment activities. Support departmental undergraduate student outreach and engagement activities Plan and execute events and digital campaigns to inform students of opportunities, recognize undergraduate student populations, and celebrate achievements (e.g. graduate school planning session, visits from employers, transfer student week, personalized congratulations message to graduating seniors). Utilize data to inform and develop outreach activities and to communicate enrollment outcomes to faculty and staff. Additional Duties and Responsibilities for Senior Academic Advisor: Plan and create the NRES course schedule in consultation with the NRES Director of Undergraduate Studies and Student Services Coordinator. Coordinate, implement, and lead the reporting of assessment activities. Serve on University and College advising committees as requested to ensure collaboration and policy alignment as required. Position Requirements and Qualifications Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in natural resources and environmental sciences, education, or a related field. Preferred : Master's degree in one of the fields mentioned previously or Higher Education or related fields. Experience: Required Qualifications for Academic Advisor: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in natural resource or environmental management, environmental education, academic advising, teaching or similar fields. Experience in independently organizing and managing program activities. Expertise with Microsoft Office. Required Qualifications for Senior Academic Advisor: In addition to required qualifications for Academic Advisor, minimum 2 years of professional advising experience or equivalent experience in a related higher education setting. Preferred Qualifications for Academic Advisor: Understanding of university-level curricula and auditing systems used to track student progress through program. Familiarity with University systems for managing academic programs (e.g. Undergraduate Records, uAchieve, Banner, CIM, Canvas). Experience presenting information. P referred Qualifications for Senior Academic Advisor: In addition to preferred qualifications for Academic Advisor, 3-5 years professional advising experience or equivalent experience in a university environment in academic advising or similar career field. Experience working in University systems for managing academic programs (e.g. Undergraduate Records, uAchieve, Banner, CIM, Canvas). Experience with learning assessment and data reporting/management. Undergraduate or graduate teaching experience. Successful candidates will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to collaborate and work with students, staff, faculty, and families from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Understanding of the needs of a diverse student population, including students from underrepresented backgrounds and international students. Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Exceptional time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Evidence of exceptional ability to focus on details and specific information. Demonstrated ability to understand and clearly explain complex processes, procedures, and program requirements.

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT DETAILS:

This is a full-time (100%, 12-month) Academic Professional appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. The budgeted salary range for the Academic Advisor position is $50,000 to $65,000 and the budgeted salary range for the Senior Academic Advisor position is $65,000 to $70,000.
